Watershed Monitoring

Whychus Creek Restoration Monitoring

Since 2006, the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council (UDWC) has collaborated with the Deschutes Land Trust (DLT) and Deschutes River Conservancy (DRC) to conduct long-term, watershed-scale restoration monitoring in Whychus Creek.

With the implementation of the 2009 Whychus Creek Restoration Monitoring Plan, UDWC, DLT and DRC launched a new, holistic approach to monitoring the effectiveness of restoration projects in Whychus Creek. Collected by local partners, monitoring data provides insight and information about streamflow, water quality, fish habitat, fish and macroinvertebrate populations in order to track changes in the creek over time.

With this monitoring, the Watershed Council and its partners will be able to track the ecological benefits of the restoration work in Whychus Creek. Is restoration working? Is the creek healthier?
