Lynch Property Riparian Restoration

Overview

The Lynch Property is a privately owned section of Deschutes River waterfront within the city limits of Bend. With the cooperation of the landowners, Ted and Karen Lynch, a project to restore riparian habitat conditions, improve fish habitat and reduce erosion and land loss was implemented.

Woody material and native plants were placed along the riverbank to create stability and to improve the habitat. This project serves as an outstanding example of the benefit of landowners who are well informed about watershed health. Over the long-term, it is expected the landowners will be important streamside stewards.

Funding

The project was supported by funding and volunteer contributions from Ted and Karen Lynch, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council and Forest Concepts LLC.
