Double Eagle Ranch Riparian Fencing Project

The Double Eagle Ranch is located along the middle Deschutes River, immediately downstream of Lower Bridge, near the town of Terrebonne. The ranch borders the Deschutes River and is primarily used for cattle ranching. Prior to November of 2003, the cattle could access approximately one mile of river frontage, potentially causing adverse impacts to the river, wetlands and other sensitive areas.

The Upper Deschutes Watershed Council, in cooperation with the landowner, contracted Cloverdale Fence Company to install 4,200 lineal feet of wildlife friendly fencing to prevent the cattle from accessing the river. The landowner purchased an additional 200 feet and donated labor and the use of heavy equipment as a matching portion to the funding provided by the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board.  The project was completed in November of 2003.
